I wanted to create a bunch of Valentine’s Day stickers, and of course, that has to include XOXO stickers. It is one of the more iconic Valentine's symbols and wording out there. This is a super simple sticker to make; it doesn’t take long. You can do it with so many different fonts, background effects and colour combinations.
These can be used in many different ways: add them to a cup or tumbler, in planners to mark date nights and anniversaries, and add them to the bottom of a card or letter that you write!
Materials
- Sticker paper
- Holographic overlay
- Canva for design & design
- Cricut Design Space
- Cricut machine
- Standard green mat
- Fine point premium blade
- Brayer
- Spatula
- Scissors
How to create
I created these when Cricut Design Space was laid out differently. The idea is the same; you just need to tweak it a bit.
Creating the image in Canva

- Open up Canva and start a new blank project. I usually do it on a custom 6-by-6-inch page.
- Go to “text”, add it to the blank page, and type “XOXO”.
- I changed the font to Bodoni FLF, but use whichever one you like!
- Next, go to “effects” and select “shadow” or pick the best one that works for you. I played around for a while until I found something that fit what I was looking for.
- Once you have that all good to go, save the image. If you have the pro version, save it with a transparent background.
Adding the offset

- Open and upload the XOXO image to Design Space.
- Make sure the image is uploaded as a print and cut.
- Once the image is in Design Space, add it to the Canvas.
- Adjust the size if needed, or zoom in to get a better look; either works.
- Go to “offset” at the top and move the slider left or right, depending on whether you want it to be thin or thick.
- Once you have the size select both and, group the two images together.
- Change the colour of the offset to white or the desired colour. I did one with white and one with light pink.
- Select the image and then go to “flatten” at the bottom right. The whole image should now say print and cut.
- Resize the image and duplicate the image as many times as needed.
When I made the sticker the create sticker option was not in Design space just yet.
Printing and adding the overlay

- Turn on the printer and Cricut machine.
- Place the sticker paper into the printer.
- Go to “make,” and a screen will pop up with how the images are placed, then click “continue.”
- Choose the mat option “for any material” and then click “continue.”
- Next screen, click “send to printer”.
- The print screen will pop up and ensure the bleed option is on, and click “print.”
- Let the ink and paper dry if needed.
- Place the overlay on top of the printed sheet, smooth out any bubbles and take your time. I use a scraper or a plastic ruler to help smooth it out as I lay it down.
If there are bubbles and these stickers for myself, I pop them with a pin or the weeding tool.
Cutting and removing

- Place the printed sheet on the mat, then run the brayer over the sheet to adhere it to the mat.
- Set the material to the “printable vinyl”; this will not cut all the way through, you peel them off like a sticker sheet. If you want to cut through, set to “foil kraft board holographic.”
- Load the mat into the machine when the “arrow” starts flashing.
- Click the “C” when it starts flashing.
- Unload the machine when prompted; the “arrow” will start flashing.
- Flip the mat over and peel the mat off the sticker sheet. If some don’t come off right, use your spatula or scraper to help peel them off.
You now have cute Valentine's Day stickers to use to your hearts desires!
