Stephen King is by far one of my favorite writers. Whenever one of his books is turned into a movie or a mini series I have to read the book first before I watch it. There have been so many times when the book and movie or series aren't the same. I want to see what his vision for the story is first before some else's. If that makes sense to you that is the best way for me to describe it.

Mr. Mercedes is book one of The Bill Hodges Trilogy. I still have to read the others Finders Keepers and End of Watch. I will write a review for each book individually as I read them.

Time for my review

4 out of 5 stars.

Please go read the book it is such a good read. I did not want to put the book down. It has great characters and an odd but interesting plot. It will keep you interested and want to read more.

If you want to know more keep reading below I give more detailed thoughts. I don't want to give anything away so there are no spoilers I promise.

Detailed review

As I have said before I could not put the book down. I needed to know what happens next and know what a random little chapter or side story had to do with the plot. I needed to know what was going to happen the characters. It just kept you feeling like "I need to know now".

Each character from Bill Hodges the main character to the crazy aunt plays a very specific role big or small to the stories odd but interesting plot. I was invested in more of the characters than I thought I was going to be whether it was a small or major character. Sometimes it felt like some of the backstories could have come out sooner to get more understanding. I have a feeling that we will learn more about characters through out the other books. Who knows if they will even play a part in later books I will let you know as I read them. There were characters I wasn't expecting to play such a major roles. The character development throughout the book really helped you connect with the characters and I hope that will continue in the other books in the series. I'm also curious too see the new characters that will be added or characters killed off.

The plot definitely has Stephen King vibes written all over it. There were a lot of mind games and trickery you would expect with King. You can see some of the outcomes coming, since there are only so many ways it could go. I really did enjoy the whole idea and story so far it is my kind of read. There is more to come with the other books. New storylines could be added or he could go completely off the rails it's Stephen King you never know.

I can't wait to read other books in the trilogy. I didn't order all of the books because I wasn't sure if I would like it but I should have :).
