This is a super easy project and is easy to assemble. If you have some type of shelves or drawers that are the same height already you are halfway there.
Materials
- Two shelf (or as many as you want to use) unit or drawers that are the same height and a reasonable height for you to work at
- 2 foot by 4 foot shelf from a hardware store - got mine from Rona
- Something to help hold the shelf on the shelf unit or drawers - unless you want to be able to move the shelf

I needed more workspace in my craft room the desk just wasn’t cutting it anymore. It was being used for pretty much everything from planning to writing, designing, cutting and assembly. It had all my Cricuts, my computer/tablet or just anything else I needed. Our printer was sitting on a box on the floor under the desk so I would have to slide the box in and out when needed. Other machines I wanted to use like my laminator or the Cricut Joy I would have to move them from the random spot they were stored to my desk and then plug them in and then unplug and move it back. It got super annoying and frustrating sometimes. It was a never ending mess because somedays so much was going on and it was making my anxiety sky rocket.
I was always rearranging areas and shelves to try help but only lasted for so long. At points I was looking at buying a new corner desk as an option and just a bunch of new furniture but really didn’t want to spend a lot and wanted to use furniture already in my craft room. Pinterest came to my rescue when searching for ideas. I came across someone who went to their local hardware store and bought an individual wooden shelf and put it on top of furniture they already had. Off to Rona I went and bought the shelf but as I was assembling I had to do some rearranging. I didn’t notice that the one shelf unit was shorter then other shelf that was going to be used so I had to switch more units around. Once all the rearranging was done and the shelf was on there was more room it felt more open.
Now the Cricut Joy, laminator ad printer all have permanent home and. It has been so much easier to use the machines. There is room for me to leave projects had need to dry if needed. I can hide cords and use the area underneath to store my ring light, or just random things temporarily. This little work space is great and I am honestly super happy with it. Just adding that shelf to the shelfing units made a big difference.
I am always rearranging my craft room and I am sure there will be more changes. I hope this gave you ideas to help give you more space to create on!
